PRAYER TIME METHOD
Muslim World League (MWL)
What is the Muslim World League (MWL) method?
Muslim World League (MWL) is the calculation used by the Muslim World League (Rabita al-Alam al-Islami), Makkah. Fajr: sun 18° below the horizon. Isha: sun 17° below the horizon.
The rules
| Set by | Muslim World League (Rabita al-Alam al-Islami), Makkah |
|---|---|
| Fajr | Sun 18° below the horizon |
| Isha | Sun 17° below the horizon |
| Asr | First shadow length (Hanafi: second, a setting) |
| Alif uses it by default in | Oman, Iraq, Jordan, other countries without a preset |
Details
Far north the sun may not reach 18° or 17° below the horizon in summer. Alif then uses one seventh of the night for Fajr and Isha above 48° latitude, and the middle of the night below it; you can change this rule.
