Ḥamd: Ḥamd is the Arabic word usually translated as “praise”. It is the first word of Qur’an 1:2 and comes from the root ḥ-m-d.
Qibla: The Qibla is the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah. On a round Earth, it is the direction of the shortest path to the Kaaba, measured as an angle clockwise from true north.
